Brookgreen Gardens and Broadway at the Beach

Donna and I recently traveled to Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet for their annual Nights of 1000 Candles event. Brookgreen is an amazing place any time of the year, but it is especially magical when it is lit by thousands upon thousands of lights and candles and augmented by performing groups spread throughout the grounds. There were also a couple of indoor displays - one showcasing Christmas trees and wreathes made of unusual items, and one that had displays comprised of old toys.

The next day we visited Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach. Winter is the time to visit Myrtle Beach, as there are no crowds to battle! We played some putt-putt golf and visited several neat shops and picked up a few last-minute Christmas gifts. We also had coffee and dessert at the only Kiss Coffeehouse in the world! There was a great deal of Kiss memorabilia, including some of their instruments and some of their costumes and insanely tall boots, and their coffee was really strong and really good. We concluded the day with a fine Mexican meal at Fiesta del Burro Loco before heading back to Columbia.

You can view some photos that I took in this Facebook album. I think you should be able to see these photos if you don't have a Facebook account, but let me know if not.
