Charleston Harbor Tour

Donna and I recently had a good time taking a tour of Charleston harbor. The boats depart from near the Aquarium as well as from Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, and the tour lasts around 90 minutes. More information here.

As we were departing Patriots Point we had some good views of the Cooper River bridge, the USS Yorktown, and some local wildlife.

Ft. Sumter, the target of the first shots of the American Civil War.

The remains of Castle Pinckney, used as a prisoner of war camp and artillery position during the Civil War.

We had a good time and learned a great deal about the history of the area from a really good tour guide; I recommend the tour. Before or after you can also check out the well-stocked Patriots Point gift shop.

After the tour we spent some time browsing the market area and then grabbed some dinner at a favorite restaurant of ours, The Noisy Oyster. Then coffee for me and ice cream for Donna before heading home. Always a good time in Charleston!
